Burj Khalifa

Burj Khalifa, Dubai’s masterpiece, is a must visit destination and a magnificent centrepiece of Downtown Dubai. Its observation deck provides an awesome view of the surrounding hotels, shopping destinations and various entertainment options. It was earlier named as Burj Dubai.

The construction for Burj Khalifa began on 21 September 2004 with Adrian Smith as the chief architect and Bill Baker as the chief engineer. The exterior of the building was completed by October 2009 and it offically opened on 4 January 2010. The project was affected by the Global financial crisis of 2008 and the government of Dubai had to seek support from the oil rich neighbor of Abu Dhabi. The tower was thereafter renamed ‘Burj Khalifa’ after the president of UAE, Khalifa bin Zayed in recognition of his support.
